Family is a work I did during my Erasmus+ in Plymouth (UK). I managed the separation from my family with my family – God.
The Father, Son and The Holy Spirit are something like a family. In our world it is usually the Mother, Father and their children. For me it is both – spiritual and physical family.
Family is a serie of 4 mezzotint prints. The circle, square and triangle are symbols for a spiritual life, infinity, the perfect shape, these are a symbol of God. These forms are the opposite of the square – symbol of Human and physical life. The triangle can be a symbol for the Holy Trinity itself, but for me it is a symbol of Father (the divine eye). The Holy Trinity is a combination of all of these geometrical shapes and as I mentioned, the triangle is a symbol of Father. The circle is a symbol for the Holy Spirit and the square is for the Son (square – physical life, Jesus, Son – God in the physical form). The square structure also represents my whole family in our world – a physical family where Father is symbol of my Father (watching and looking after us), Son is symbol for siblings (son and daughter of my parents) and finally The Holy Spirit symbolises Mother (for me mother is the most perfect creation in the world).
I wrote this while I made the prints: "I don’t want the viewer to see a family or something specified in my work. I would like the viewer to see something close to them, like I found that close to me is my family, my sister and of course the most important – God. Thanks to them I don’t feel lonely or sad, I am just happy to be in a different country and explore it with the support of them. Even when I don’t see them, I know that they’re here."
